Learning Contexts: a Blueprint for Research
Most research efforts in online learning tend to concentrate on the delivery of content relegating to a lesser role the contexts, the activity-rich, interaction-rich and culturallyrich learning environments that the use of technology is making possible and where new principles and practices apply. We illustrate some of the threads of this emerging research field: What are learning contexts? How do they interact with contents? How can they be managed? What philosophical perspectives and social theories frame and support their use? Can they be designed? How do they shape the platforms of the future? Most research efforts in online learning tend to concentrate on the delivery of content relegating to a lesser role the contexts, the activity-rich, interaction-rich and culturallyrich learning environments that the use of technology is making possible and where new principles and practices apply.
What are the implications of the new media for the generation of
young people whose life paths and cultural affiliations are built using the Internet
and mobile phones? What opportunities and threats can we anticipate? What
new literacies are emerging? Reflecting upon these issues, we seek to identify
clues as to the knowledge needed to cope with these changes and with the globalized
world to which they are organically bound
Compreender e desenvolver as competências digitais

publicações no Facebook.
Implications for Futures: The Missing Section in Sustainable Information Systems Research
This paper argues in favor of a deeper understanding of the importance of futures in information systems (IS) research and proposes an initial set of guidelines for the inclusion, in IS publications, of an optional section devoted to the discussion of futures. The proposal was inspired by reflections on the nature of disruptive innovations and was grounded on a cross disciplinary literature review in the areas of IS, management, and computer science. The proposal includes examples of preferable futures and a discussion of their exploration. The anticipation of sustainable futures has the potential to (1) enrich the debate in IS research, (2) contribute to the development of preferable futures, and (3) create knowledge bases of scenarios and trajectories for such development. As far as theory is concerned, the paper advances the incorporation of futures in IS research. For the practice of the discipline, the paper proposes an additional dimension for the publication of impactful research that takes into account the needs of today’s managers, namely those who deal with uncertain environments
Self-reporting Limitations in Information Systems Design Science Research
Besides increasing transparency and demonstrating awareness of the author, self-reported limitations enable other researchers to effectively learn from, build on, validate, and extend the original work. However, this topic is understudied in information systems design science research (IS DSR). The study has assessed 243 IS DSR papers published in the period 2013–2022 and built a typology of the 19 most relevant limitations, organized into four categories: (1) Input Knowledge and Technology, (2) Research Process, (3) Resulting Artifact, and (4) Design Knowledge. Further, the contribution suggests actions to mitigate each type of limitation throughout the entire IS DSR project lifecycle. The authors have also created guidelines to report the limitations in a useful way for knowledge accumulation. The proposed typology and guidelines enable reviewers and editors to better frame self-reported limitations, assess rigor and relevance more systematically, and provide more precise feedback. Moreover, the contribution may help design researchers identify, mitigate, and effectively communicate the uncertainties inherent to all scientific advances
IT Governance Practices for Electric Utilities: Insights from Brazil and Europe
We propose a framework of 14 IT governance practices tailored for the electric utilities sector. They were selected and ranked as "essential", "important", or "good" by top executives and IT staff from two multi-billion dollar companies - one in Brazil and another in Europe - from a generic set of 83 collected in the literature and in the field. Our framework addresses a need of electric utilities for which specific guidance was lacking. We have also uncovered a significant impact of social issues in IT governance, whose depth seems to be missing in the current research. As a byproduct of our work, the larger generic framework from which we have departed and the tailoring method that we have proposed can be used to customize the generic framework to different industries
